Exercise

Capoeira – strength, movement and rhythm

Discover capoeira at the System Verification Fair Play Stadium! The sessions are aimed at tennis and padel players in our programme, but from autumn 2026 we will also welcome participants who do not yet practise any other sport. The sessions take place on court 12.

Days, times & ages

  • Thursday: Children/young people aged 6–12 (born between 2014 and 2020), 5.00–6.00 pm
  • Thursday: Young people aged 13 and over and adults (born in 2013 or earlier), 6.00 pm–7.00 pm

How the training works

Capoeira is a Brazilian form of exercise that combines movement, music, balance and coordination. The training takes place in a group setting and is the perfect complement to sports such as tennis and padel, as it develops agility, body control, reaction times and footwork in a playful and inspiring way.

The sessions take place at a gentle and safe pace under the guidance of an experienced instructor. Each session begins and ends with a brief discussion of the day’s programme. Participants learn the basic movements of capoeira and practise using them with others, to music and different rhythms. Everyone has the opportunity to both follow and lead, always in a controlled and safe environment.

Upholstery

The session takes place barefoot in comfortable workout clothes that allow plenty of freedom of movement. You can train in your usual workout clothes. For safety reasons, please do not wear shoes, socks, jewellery, hoodies or dresses, and long hair must be tied back.

Editorial

The sessions are led by Ulrika “Professora Cafeína” Palander and Thiago “Professor Mandingueiro” Soares Santos, both of whom have over 20 years’ experience of practising and teaching capoeira. Ulrika runs the capoeira project ‘Små fötter växer’ (Little Feet Grow), and Thiago is a Brazilian from the group Tribo Unida. They met through capoeira in Brazil and are looking forward to sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with new practitioners at Fair Play.
